Green Shoot Healthcare Innovation Program Portal

Bay Area Health Trust maintains a diverse portfolio of independent commercial business interests, and is committed to forming and identifying new opportunities to deliver against its mandate of providing value to its beneficiaries;  HHS, HHS Foundation and McMaster.

Bay Area Health Trust collaborates with the Hamilton life sciences ecosystem as part of the Synapse Consortium to develop profitable private sector business opportunities and partnerships.

Bay Area Health Trust thrives in a culture of innovation and encourages its beneficiaries to participate, from clinical staff to administrative personnel. Bay Area Health Trust seeks to foster and invest in this unique environment, resulting in a consistent flow of novel product and/or service ideas and support them with the infrastructure to develop and realize benefits for all parties.

It is with this goal in mind that we are happy to introduce the Bay Area Health Trusts‘ Green Shoot Healthcare Innovation program. The ‘Green Shoot’ program was created as an outlet for innovation in the healthcare space for ideas originating within the HHS employee community.

We welcome all ideas, no matter how big or small, to be submitted to the ‘Green Shoot’ portal, and thank you for your contribution and involvement in supporting innovation in healthcare.

HAVE A GREAT IDEA? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

Hamilton Health Sciences employees can access a suite of resources to become educated about innovation and entrepreneurship, and to refine and develop their innovative ideas.

Bay Area Health Trust’s ‘Green Shoot Healthcare Innovation’ program, in association with our Synapse Life Science Consortium partners will provide access to the resources to support innovators from ideation through launch.

What kind of ideas are we looking for?

While we don’t want to be too prescriptive, healthcare related products and/or services that can be commercialized are an obvious fit. Less so would be ideas that fall into a process improvement or CQI appropriate idea. Same would be true for highly specialized projects that typically fall into existing research administration channels. If you’re not sure, we would be happy to discuss prior to submission.

Broad areas of continued interest would include, but are not limited to products or services that:

  • Positively impact the social determinants of health.
  • Get patients out of acute care beds faster.
  • Reduce the rates of Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI).

INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION

  • Technology development, regulatory, business, investor and legal support.

Streamlined clinical testing within the Hamilton Health Sciences clinical infrastructure as availability and necessity permits.

Innovation Factory has strong healthcare innovation experience and a national network of mentors and investors to help give the idea immediate credibility and position it for success.

  1. COMMERCIALIZATION

Bay Area Health Trust will work with the innovator to determine in what manner further involvement is needed to initiate a successful launch of the product/service.
