$3.2-million radiology centre opens at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton

A generous act of health-care philanthropy has allowed St. Joseph’s Healthcare to purchase state-of-the-art ultrasound and angiography machines as well as an air-handling unit that supplies surgical-grade quality air to prevent the spread of airborne diseases. More than 4,000 radiology procedures are expected to be performed at the facility this year.  The imaging technology in the radiology suite assists doctors for so-called “pinhole” surgery to deliver angiography catheters and perform numerous other medical treatments, including cancer surgeries.

As a result, St. Joe’s is the only hospital in the region to “have a centralized interventional radiology and oncology centre, a ‘one-stop shop’ model, that cares for patients from any area of specialty in the hospital”
