Province of Ontario investing Over $26 Million in Health Care for Hamilton

Image result for province of ontario governmentThe Province of Ontario announced it will be investing over $26 million in Hamilton health care with key partners like Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare, as part of its efforts to continue to strengthen Ontario’s health care syste.

Hamilton patients will benefit from:

  • $10.3 million increase in operating funding for Hamilton Health Sciences
  • $3.6 million increase in operating funding for St. Joseph’s Health Care Hamilton
  • Approximately $10 million to Hamilton Health Sciences Centre, to expand capacity for the treatment of stem cell transplantation patients
  • A planning grant of $2.5 million to Hamilton Health Sciences to support early planning for potential future infrastructure investments
  • New investments in Chronic Pain Programs, with $1.48 million per year for Hamilton Health Sciences and $486,000 per year at St. Joseph’s Health Care Hamilton
  • More than $237,000 for the continuation of the local Community Paramedicine pilot program that helps seniors and other patients live independently, and reduce emergency room visits and hospital admissions.
