Technology has become the newest member of the healthcare team. The Medical Technologies Innovation Centre (MTIC) supports research initiatives that strengthen the innovation of existing and emerging medical technologies and advance patient and community care by creating pathways to adoption within our healthcare system through community and industry partnerships.
MTIC provides an interactive collaborative space for research and innovation. In partnership with industry, the community and experts in engineering, education and health, MTIC supports quality patient care in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Located within a $25.85 million, four-story facility, MTIC represents a unique partnership between McMaster University and Mohwak College. It is home to 1,200 full-time and 3,500 part-time students from both Mohawk College and McMaster University.
The 174,000 square foot Centre provides education and training for Mohawk College students in Nursing, Practical Nursing, Personal Support Worker, Medical Imaging Technology, Medical Diagnostic Ultrasonography, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Pharmacy Assistant, Cardiovascular Technician, Occupational and Physiotherapist Assistant, and Continuing Education Health Sciences.
MITC houses McMaster University’s School of Rehabilitation Science, which offers Masters Degree programs in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Clinical Health Sciences (Rehabilitation Science), and conducts research to advance knowledge in the rehabilitation field.
