Virtual Possibilities secures NRC grant & CIMTEC partnership to fund next iteration of LaparoGuard
We’re pleased to share that our client and LiON’S LAIR 2015 finalist, Virtual Possibilities, has received funding from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) to fund a partnership with the Centre for Imaging Technology Commercialization (CIMTEC). CIMTEC will be helping Virtual Possibilities improve the next iteration of their medical imaging device, LaparoGuard.
LaparoGuard is a patented, prototyped medical device for minimally invasive surgery aimed at reducing and preventing instrument and tissue collisions that cause injury during medical procedures.
CIMTEC helps researchers, start-ups and small to medium-sized companies translate their medical imaging innovations into commercial products for clinical use. Our technology development team builds and tests clinical prototypes in the broad areas of 3D visualization, image analysis and mechatronics design. Our business development services include intellectual property and regulatory assessments, market research, opportunity evaluations, business plan advice and help sourcing funding.
Virtual Possibilities has successfully demonstrated efficacy of the first version of their LaparoGuard prototype, and intend on testing the next version in further pre-clinical studies.
