St. Joseph’s Research Institute Releases 2016 Annual Report
The Research Institute of St. Joe’s Hamilton represents a collaborative community of researchers that strive to improve the quality of life of patients in Hamilton and around the world.
With $26 million in funding – of which a quarter comes from corporate sources – St. Joseph’s 176 researchers produced 531 publications.
Highlights of 2016 included innovative studies and advances in the following areas:
- Saving lives by preventing relapses in methadone users
- Crises response team successfully pairs clinicians with police
- Fighting lung disease from bench to bedside
- Pioneering new, integrated models of patient care through the Integrated Comprehensive Care program
- Treating rheumatoid arthritis faster
- World’s first vaccine against chlamydia
- New ways to improve care for chronic kidney disease
- Improving prostate cancer diagnostics
