Accelerating Health Innovation with OmniaBio’s state-of-art Biotech Manufacturing Facility

A Recap of the January Hamilton Health Check-up

Each month, the Synapse Life Science Consortium hosts a session to unite the life science community, share updates, and discuss the development and deployment of health innovations called the Monthly Hamilton Health Innovation Check-up

In the most recent Health Check-up, the spotlight was on OmniaBio, Canada’s largest cell and gene therapy Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO). The session illustrated its role as a strategic resource for start-ups and established companies within the biotechnology sector.

Located in Hamilton, Ontario, OmniaBio operates a state-of-the-art facility that specializes in high-throughput manufacturing of cell and gene therapies. The proximity of OmniaBio to major transport hubs and the U.S. border provides start-ups with crucial logistical advantages. This strategic location enables rapid, efficient transport of sensitive biotech products, critical for time-sensitive therapies.

Talent Development and Community Engagement

OmniaBio is committed to expanding its workforce and taps into the rich talent pool from local universities. This not only supports OmniaBio’s growth but also provides start-ups access to a skilled workforce, fostering a vibrant biotech community in Southern Ontario.

Through a partnership with the University of Guelph’s Centre for Advanced Drug Delivery (CADD), OmniaBio ensures its workforce is proficient in the latest techniques, extending this expertise to start-ups through collaborative opportunities.

Opportunities for Start-up Collaboration

Start-ups can engage with OmniaBio to leverage its manufacturing capabilities and regulatory expertise, accelerating their development and production processes. OmniaBio serves as a catalyst in the ecosystem, offering start-ups:

  • Applied Research Collaborations: Enhancing product development and scaling production.
  • Navigational Guidance: Offering insights into biotech manufacturing complexities and regulatory frameworks.
  • Access to Facilities: Providing start-ups with the necessary tools to de-risk their operations and enhance commercial readiness.

The Monthly Hamilton Health Check-up is a valuable forum for health innovators to network, exchange ideas, and explore collaborations. Connecting with leaders like OmniaBio can provide access to the tools, expertise, and partnerships needed to move health innovations forward.
