Focus on research paying off for McMaster
McMaster University has received a couple of notable accolades for research — one for making an international splash with a journal article about dieting and the other about grant funding.
The academic article — that criticized the effectiveness of low-fat diets — was listed first in 2017 by an international ranking system of scholarly publications. Three other articles with connection to McMaster made the top-100 list.
In the other kudos, McMaster was cited as the country’s most “research-intensive” university, according to a ranking from a Toronto-based company that tracks R&D spending. Research Infosource Inc. found the university received $405,300 per faculty member in 2016 — more than double the national average.
