Canadian researchers encourage intensive care patients to pedal towards recovery
St. Josehp’s Healthcare experimental project, named TryCycle, has been highlighted in CTV News. Dr. Michelle Kho and team created purpose-built exercycles to enable patients intensive care who lose muscular strength, mainly on the level of their lower limbs. This allows patients to pedel while lying down, helping them to strengthen muscles weakened by long periods of confinement.
The positive results of their initial study will now pave the way for future clinical trials. Dr. Michelle Kho and the team led the investigation of this research project. The research has been published in the journal Plos One.
